Brian O’Connor, an internationally recognized French horn player and teacher, has been involved in recording almost 2,200 films in the last thirty plus years as a first-call LA Studio Recording Horn player.
Aside from playing on such movies as “Avatar,” "Titanic," "Finding Nemo," “War of the Worlds,” "Toy Story," "Cocoon," “Robin Hood," "Wyatt Earp," “Alive,” “High Anxiety,” “First Knight,” Capricorn One,” and "Along Came a Spider," he has played Principal / Solo Horn on ”Inside Man,” “Miracle at St. Anna’s,” “The Pacifier,” “Dreamer,” “The Rock,” “The Notebook,” "Blade 2," "Jurassic Park 2," 'Star Trek: First Contact," "Princess Diaries," "Cats and Dogs," “Crimson Tide,” "The Scorpion King," "Austin Powers: The Spy That Shagged Me," "Beverly Hills Ninja" and “Down Periscope” to name a few. He has been the Principal Horn on the “Star Trek” TV shows, “The Young Riders” and “The Carol Burnett Show.” He participated in the live performance of John Williams’ "ET" on the 25th Anniversary Concert / CD.
O’Connor has been the President of the RMALA for six years, and taught Horn at UCLA for eleven years, where he founded the UCLA Bruin Horn Club and participated in the IHS International Symposium in Denver in 2008. As a member of the Pacific Serenades chamber group, and a number of others, and has performed standard and newly composed works in memorable chamber music concerts. Brian has also played Principal Horn in numerous orchestras in the LA area. Recently O’Connor has taught Master Classes and appeared as a soloist and clinician in Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and California. He was Principal Horn of the ABT (American Ballet Theater) Orchestra in LA for ten years and for many Broadway shows for the LA Light Opera and other groups for over twenty years, including “Sweeney Todd” and the original “Phantom of the Opera.” He is one of the most recorded Horn players in the world, performing in the Academy Awards many times in addition to all of his Film, TV, Record, Jingle, Live Television and Video Game recordings. Brian O’Connor has been in the Marquis’ “Who’s Who in America,” “Who’s Who in the World” and “Who’s Who in American Education” from 2005 – 2010.
