John Barclay

John was born in Manchester and has enjoyed a career spanning nearly 30 years at the very pinnacle of his profession.

On arriving in london aged 19, John soon became the lead trumpet of the BBC Radio Big Band and principal with the National Philharmonic. His assured performances led to a string of offers of work in Film, Stage, and Television and as a Session player.

John's list of Film scores include: Supergirl, 13th Warrior, Gods & Generals, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Brazil, Highlander, Give My Regards to Broad Street, Hollow Man, Batman, Tombstone, Mission Impossible, The Saint, Superman, Evita, The Odyssey, Rugrats in Paris, Mickey Blue Eyes, The Avengers, Stargate, The Mummy 1 and 2, Lost in Space, Sleepy Hollow, Johnny English, Frankenstein and the last 6 James Bond films!

His Session work includes: Sting, Swing Out Sister, Hue & Cry, Was Not Was, Matt Bianco, Bandzilla, Take That, Peter Gabriel, Elton John, ABC, James Last, Nancy Wilson, Frankie Goes to Hollywood , Natalie Cole, Dudley Moore, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Kylie Minogue, Chris Rea, Michel Le Grand, Dame Kiri Tkanawa, Sheena Easton, Robbie Williams, James Last, Gabriele, Bjork, Tom Jones, LWT and BBC.

He has also performed live with a number of legendary Jazz bands and artists including: Stan Tracy Big Band, Jack Sharpe Big Band, Mel Torme, Billy Byers, Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, Mike Gibbs, BBC Radio Big Band, National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Kenny Wheeler and the Dankworth Generation Band.

Bands toured with include: Oasis, The Cure, Michelle Gayle, Adam Clayton, Paul McCartney, Chris De Burgh, Phil Collins, Matt Bianco, Pet Shop Boys, The Gene, The Spice Girls, Robbie Williams and The Moody Blues as well as playing live for the following West End shows: Jesus Christ Superstar, City of Angels, Carmen Jones, Witches of Eastwick and Kiss Me Kate.

He is a jazz trumpet professor at the Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music.
